Our Ski Adventure

On tuesday we went skiing for the first time this season. We just got new skiis and boots so we have been very anxious for a good snow fall. Since I have been going through artificial insemination, we didn't think we would go skiing this season. Fortunately and unfortunately, we did. We had originally planned on going on monday, but we knew a storm was coming and we wanted to be better prepared to drive in the snow. We left the house at 6am and it was pouring rain. We were so excited because we knew that that meant there was going to be fresh snow. We never once thought about the road conditions up in the mountains. Thankfully, we got there safely. We skied for about 4 hours. It was snowing hard the entire time so we had a hard time staying dry.

In the 4 hours we were there, it snowed 16 inches. We had to dig our car out when we were ready to go home. The roads were awful because there's only a couple plows that come up that high on the mountain. We drove about a mile and then got stuck again in the middle of the road. I was a nervous wreck the entire time. I knew that if we slid off the road we would be falling down the side of the mountain. After about 30 minutes, we were able to head down the mountain again. We went down about 10 miles and stopped to help a car that had slid off the road. The back end was off the edge. We couldn't help much so they called a tow truck and we left. I am so glad that we made it home safely. In all the years I lived in Indiana and drove in awful snow storms, I have never seen roads that bad before. Next time we go skiing we are definitely going to check the weather to make sure it will be safe for us to go up!

It looks so beautiful! Glad to hear you made it back safely. Where did you go skiing?
We went skiing at Sierra Summit. It's 65 miles north east from us at Huntington Lake.
