Ceiling something new above us

When we were first looking at our house, we noticed that the ceilings were filthy. We were overwhelmed by the idea of scrapping off the popcorn texture. We thought we would just keep it up and paint around it. We started priming the walls and realized that it was going to be difficult to paint the walls and make it look good with the texturing on the ceiling. So we decided to tackle it and re texture the ceilings. James' Dad was very nice to come down and help us (Thanks Dad K!!)

The scrapping part went by very quickly. One person sprayed the ceiling as the other scrapped away.

I ran to Lowe's to pick up a few things that we needed. When I came back 20 minutes later, the majority of the popcorn was gone.

Everyone warned me that it would be a very messy job. I don't think I completely understood what they meant. Even though we put plastic on the floors, I still have this stuff smooched into the floors.

Our house looked like a hazard zone.

The Before and After pictures (you will have to click on it to make it bigger to actually see the difference)

It is amazing how much of a difference this has made to our house. We have just started all the painting. We hope to have the main living area painted and decorated before our family comes for thanksgiving (I don't think that will happen, but we are trying!)

I wish we could do that to our house. My Realtor brother said that taking off popcorn is the #1 thing to do to update a home.

You are so brave! I bet it's so nice though. Can't wait to see all your changes! My kitchen is currently a hazard zone...good luck!

Wow! The prep work for that job looked like more work than the actual scraping! It looks great, though!
