Halloween over the years

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE this time of year?!! From about now until December 22nd, I am the happiest person around.

I love the smell, taste, and sight of pumpkins. I love the cooler weather. I love the fall colors. I love the food and treats. I love the Christmas spirit. I love the meaning behind this time of year.

We carved pumpkins this year, first time in a few years. As I was carving my pumpkin and squirming every time I touched the gunk inside, I couldn't help but think about previous Halloweens.

I don't remember ever carving a pumpkin growing up. We always picked out little tiny pumpkins and painted them. My memory may be wrong and we may have carved a pumpkin or two, but I don't remember that at all.

Our second Halloween together (we were googly eyed newleyweds our first halloween), James decided he wanted me to experience it, so we carved pumpkins together. I have many pictures documenting this, but unfortunately my scanner isn't working :(

Three years ago, we went to an actual pumpkin patch and picked our own pumpkins. We had a great time together!

Over the past few years, James has done Star Wars rooms for our church trick-or-treating. If you haven't noticed before, you will see that James is super talented! He drew out these pumpkins on his own, no templates.

Last year, he made a spooky Darth Vadar to hang in the room.

Two or three years ago, our church decided to do trunk or treat instead. This is how James decorated our car. Sorry for the picture quality, this was before I knew how to work a camera.

The first Halloween we had Echo, we bought TONS of costumes for her, none of which she liked. She was a thug, football player, spider dog, yoda, crab, and a few other weird animals.

This year we went and bought 3 pumpkins. I carved the white one and orange one (I am not artistic at all so I used templates!) and James did the green one (a pumpkin inside a pumpkin, inside a pumpkin...)

I am excited to have many more Halloween memories, hopefully one day we will have little ones to dress up and go door to door with.
